These are practical days where children get the chance to learn many of the responsibilities of looking after a pony. Riding is also incuded with a mixture of instruction in the school and a ride out as well.
All sessions will be conducted in a relaxed atmosphere working with not only the children but also accompanying adults should they wish to stay. It is recommended that a seriuos of Pony Days are booked so that a reasonable standard of knowledge and care can be acheived.
Topics that can be covered in the course of a Pony Day are:
Ridden sessions.
Confidence building both mounted and dismounted. These sessions can be lead or assisted by helpers.
Games.
General Lesson sessions.
Jumping Instruction as and when the group are ready.
Instruction at show venues. A confident experienced friendly helping hand at local shows.
Stable management sessions (following the Pony Club structure)
Grooming and Turnout.
Feet and the Farrier.
Clipping and Trimming.
Rugs, boots and bandages.
Feeding and worming.
Grassland management and poisonous plants.
When to call the vet.
Routine vaccinations and health care.
Show preparation and Class etiquette. Timetable for events for a show.
Loading and travelling you pony in safety.
