Pony Club Camp was held last weekend at NRC.  With beautiful weather and a very enthusiastic team the weekend was set to be a great success.   New team houses (Spey, Calder, Truim and Feshie) were introduced and House Capitan’s set their teams off towards gaining the most house point.

Friday saw all the older children heading out for a long hack in the morning sun and the Younger children working towards achieving their Poisonous Plants Achievement Badges and a role reversal for the afternoon meant that every child at camp passed their Poisonous Plants test.  Well done all.

Saturday was another glorious day with Team Captains heading out for a picnic ride with Bex and a chance to chill out, relax and allow the rest of their teams to stay behind and get on with the hard work, mucking out, feeding and practicing for their Pony Behaviour Achievement Badges.  Lunge lessons were to be given to all children staying behind in preparation for jumping lessons for all in the afternoon.   Course walking, and memorising over and the fun was set to begin with all children practicing their clear round jumping.

It was a busy Sunday morning with all the campers preparing their ponies for the afternoon’s show,  Soap suds, sponges and lots of wet children as they all worked hard to wash make their ponies look beautiful,  (They even dawned some red  glitter).

As parents arrived a team ride around was followed by a clear round jumping competition and lastly 3 round of Pony Club Games, The Team Sack Race was proudly contested as was, Barrel Racing and finally a Apple Ducking Race saw lots of children soaking once again.  Lots of laughs and thankfully not too many thrills and spills as the children fought right to the end to bring home the team points.

Over all team championship medals were taken home by Spey, (Team Captain Phoebe Rainey Brown, Vice Captain Iona Watson, Poppy Hadley and Sara Cheyne) who were deserving winners.  Other Prize winners were

Shannin Cooke :~ Most Improved Senior Rider of  Camp
Jessica Ross:~ Most Improved Junior Rider of Camp
Pheobe Raney Brown:~ Most Helpful Senior of Camp
Sara Cheyne :~ Most Helpful Junior of Camp

Sorley Thompson won special awards for improving his concentration.

Rown Watson also won a special award for working hard while being unable to ride as poor Rowan had fallen from the Monkey Bars and broken her arm on the first day of her summer Holidays, however she didn’t let it bother her and worked as hard as ever.

Well done to all, it was a brilliant camp.
