Newtonmore Riding Centre is going to be hosting lots of exciting events during the 2009 Christmas School Holidays.

We have attached a programme of everything that is going on and a description of each event.

23rd December 2009 to 11th January 2010

STABLE DAYS

Stable days run from 10am until 3pm, you get to spend the whole day with the horses, be involved in all the daily yard duties and will go for a 1 ½ hour hack.

Stable days are open to youngsters of 10 years and over, you need to bring your own packed lunch & snacks, something to drink, your waterproofs, warm clothing and suitable footwear.

If the weather is too bad to go for a hack then another fun horsy activity will be organised.

MINI TIME

Mini Time is for those of you who are aged between 5 - 9 years. Mini time is the same as a stable day, where you get to come and be involved in all the daily yard duties and go for a 1hour hack. It runs from 12:30pm until 3:30pm

You will need to bring your own snacks, drink, waterproofs, warm clothing and suitable footwear.

If the weather is too bad to go for a hack then another fun horsy activity will be organised.

STABLE AFTERNOON - THURSDAY 7TH JAN

Stable afternoons run from 12:30 until 3:30 and are for those of you aged 8 years and over. You will go for a 1 hour hack and be involved in all the afternoon yard duties. You will need to bring your own lunch, something to drink, your waterproofs, warm clothing and suitable footwear.

If the weather is too bad to go for a hack then another fun horsy activity will be organised.

HACKS

Through out the holidays we will be running a number of hacks for all ages and abilities. The hacks will be a great opportunity to put everything you have learnt over the summer & autum into practice and have a fantastic adventure with your saddle club buddies. The walking hacks are also appropriate for youngsters who require to be on a lead rein.

GROUP HACKS

Why not get a group of your saddle club buddies, friends and family together and come for a group hack. You can choose from a variety of routes and how long you ride for. These hacks will vary in price depending on the duration and can be booked at a time to suit you and your friends. The group hacks require a minimum of four people.

ART WORKSHOPS

Over the chilly winter holidays we though it would be great fun to offer you the chance to do something a little bit different! NRC's new Resident artist, Jenny Mclaren is going to be running some exciting art and printing workshops where you will have the opportunity to capture images of your favourate horses and ponies and turn them into your own works of art.

PONY PRINTS - MONO PRINTING WORKSHOP

Monoprint is a simple, fast and fun printmaking process, no drawing ability required! The method means that each print is unique. You'll have fun learning a variety of ways to make pony inspired monoprints to take home with you. Please bring an old shirt or similar to protect your clothes and a selection of images to work from e.g. old horse and pony magazines, pictures from the internet etc.

ANIMAL CRACKERS - COLLOGRAPH WORKSHOP

We will show you how to make collagraph prints using scraps of card, wallpaper, cloth and textured paper. You can then create a set of prints based on the birds and animals and ponies found at Newtonmore Riding Centre. It's easy to achieve great results with this method, it's creative and fun! Please bring an old shirt or similar to protect your clothes and bring along any scraps of cloth, cardboard or textured paper you can find.

Don't forget, we will also be running all our normal hacks and lessons. If there is anything you want to do and don't see it on the programme, give us a call to arrange your own Christmas Holiday adventure!

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

In the winter weather they yard can be quite cold, it is advisable that you bring warm clothing, hat, scarf, gloves and waterproofs. A warm drink would also be a good idea, you could either bring it in a flask, or bring a hot chocolate sachet/cupa soup with you and we can make it up for you during break time.
